The four shapes you must know

  1. Strong acid + strong base — steep jump through pH 7 at equivalence.
  2. Weak acid + strong base — buffer region before equivalence; equivalence pH > 7.
  3. Weak base + strong acid — buffer region; equivalence pH < 7.
  4. Polyprotic — multiple equivalence points (watch stoichiometry carefully).
